There is an English tradition/superstition that is said that giving a couple a black cat on their wedding day will bring good luck in their marriage.  While in Norse tradition brides would be gifted cats to bring luck and ward away evil.  Black cats and cats in general are thought to bring the newly weds luck, good fortune, and a long happy life together. 

This black kitten has a bell, a piece of jade and an evil eye all secured with a red cord.  These are symbols of good luck, fortune, and protection.
